Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} </style> <![endif] Liên tục trong 2 năm 2006 và 2007, phường Vĩnh bảo, TP Rạch Giá, Kiên Giang được Thủ tướng Chính phủ tặng bằng khen, Chủ tịch nước tặng huân chương Lao động hạng ba về thành tích dẫn đầu phong trào Vì an ninh Tổ quốc. 

Nhớ lại vài năm trước đây, Vính Bảo có 117 tổ dân phố với trên 4,000 hộ dân sống bằng nhiều nghề kinh doanh, dịch vụ. Là địa bàn đang phát triển thu hút các nguồn lực và nhạy cảm nhưng cũng là những tụ điểm phức tạp về tội phạm và tện nạ xã hội như như trộm, cắp, ma tuý, mại dâm… có thời gian phường quản lý tới hơn 400 đối tượng, gây bức xúc trong nhân dân. Nhằm giữ vững an ninh trật tự, lãnh đạo phường củng cố Ban chỉ đạo phong trào toàn dân Vì an ninh Tổ quốc, do Chủ tịch UBND làm trưởng ban, thành lập 9 tổ dân phòng, 2 tổ xe ôm phòng chống tội phạm, 1 tổ trật tự an toàn giao thông. Đồng thời kết hợp 3 phong trào (phong trào quần chúng bảo vệ an ninh Tổ quốc, phong trào gia đình làm kinh tế giỏi và phong trào xây dựng gia đình văn hoá, tổ dân cư văn hoá). Từ đó, quần chúng nhân dân còn cung cấp hàng trăm nguồn tin về an ninh trật tự cho công an, điều tra, khám phá 15 vụ với 24 đối tượng vi phạm, thu hồi tài sản trả lại người bị hại và trừng trị trước pháp luật. Phường giải toả hàng chục tụ điểm phức tạp, bắt 62 vụ với 112 đối tượng trộm cắp, cướp, sử dụng ma tuý, đưa 12 đối tượng đi giáo dưỡng, cảm hoá trên 100 đối tượng tại cộng đồng, vận động được 7 người tự nguyện và bắt buộc 15 người đi cai nghiện, hoà giải kịp thời hàng chục vụ mâu thuẫn trong nội bộ nhân dân. Vừa ổn định địa bàn vừa phát triển sản xuất, kinh doanh, phường tạo việc làm chi trên 300 lao động có thu nhập ổn định, giảm hộ nghèo đói xuống còn 0,18%.

Từ kết hợp ba phong trào, phường Vĩnh Bảo xây dựng được 54 tổ dân phố không có tội phạm, 100% khu dân cư đạt tiêu chuẩn “Khu dân cư văn hoá”, trên 90% tổ dân phố và gia đình đạt “Tổ dân phố văn hoá”, “Gia đình văn hoá”.
